I can I know

figuring it out, one step at a time

The Shape of Sunshine

(if you can’t see it, squint)

Yellow circles of sunshine
in ever expanding
spheres of radiating light.

Pulsing, pulsing, widening,
casting shadows of brightness, illuminations of dark.

Covering everything I can see in intense splashes
of energy that fade and dissipate
when I look directly at them but
bounce back immediately the second I look away.

So I look away.

Impermanence.

The ticking of the clock
as the days turn to night and
the nights turn to day.

Summer and winter cease to exist as time runs together,
edges touching, moving away,
creating more space, never quite ending,
always beginning.

Can I ever see all points of a circle at once? Probably not.
I don’t try. It’s better this way.

At any given time, the sun is shining somewhere.
Soft yellow circles in ever expanding spheres.
