I can I know

figuring it out, one step at a time

on indecision:

Not knowing where to begin
because of not knowing where I am headed.
A vague idea of getting out,
finding the exit,
winning the game.
But what does that mean?

Not knowing what I want
because I only know what I don’t want.
A debilitating sense of confusion.
This way or that way?
End or beginning?
Pulled in all directions; stuck fast where I am.

Not knowing the right answer
because there isn’t one that’s wrong.
Any direction is a step towards
finding my way,
winning my life,
figuring out what that means.

Not knowing means I get to decide.

Inspired by a quote found in this photo project by Alisa Martynova. Translated from the original Italian, “il labirinto e’ la patria dell’ esitazione,” or “the labyrinth is the homeland of hesitation.”
