I can I know

figuring it out, one step at a time

Happy New Year

for the last day of January 2026

(because some things are better late)

My head swirls with a thousand half-baked ideas,
unfinished thoughts,
the seeds of yet to be conceived plans.
Bits and pieces of to-do lists in varying states of doing.
The past yearโ€™s accomplishments glowing and burning out,
blinking, pulsing, a desperate attempt
to remind me of their existence.
Pushing against the thickness of uncertainty
as the hyperactive parts of my mind
rush to move on to the bigger and the better.
The things I once fought so hard for, and not all that long ago at that,
now sit in the dark, collecting dust.
Taken for granted, shoved into long-term storage.
Something worth keeping, sure, just no longer a source of pride,
no longer the star of the show.
But why?
You canโ€™t build a tenth story if you havenโ€™t built the first nine.
What if instead of tripping over
the ghosts of last yearโ€™s efforts
and hard-earned wins,
I dusted them off and climbed on top?

    1. Thank you so much ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
And just to be perfectly honest, while most of the photography is my own, on occasion, such as the bird photo here, it’s borrowed with permission from a friend! ๐Ÿ“ธ
