I can I know

figuring it out, one step at a time

Procrastinate but Persevere

On Getting Stuff Done

I often find myself pushing off tasks until the very last possible minute because I simply do not know either where or how to get started.

My brain knows this is not a wise idea.
My brain gets stuck and does it anyway.

I wait and I wait.
I panic and rush.
I enjoy none of that.

At the same time, I put a tremendous amount of effort into getting things done earlier. Just doing it, as they say.

So it’s really not for a lack of trying.
But often for a lack of succeeding.

The more we try at things, the more we fail.
The more we try at things, the more we succeed.
A whole is only as big as the sum of its parts.

I guess you really just gotta have both.

Who’s to say then what constitutes failure,
And what is simply a point along the journey?

I’ve never gotten so much done in my life.
It’s hard to just start.
Here’s to doing hard things.

  1. Procrastination is such a struggle I think many people can relate to. Yes to the doing hard things even when they’re difficult!

  2. Oh my gosh, I can relate so well! And the way you frame failure and success as two parts of a shoe is just brilliant! I will read this piece over and over

    1. That should say “two parts of a whole”, but I can’t figure out how to edit… lol
