I can I know

figuring it out, one step at a time

Life Is for Living:

A Collection of Poems Written from the Psych Ward in March of 2021;

Muted sounds
reflect
the muted reality
of life outside
these sturdy walls.
Sturdy, which is
to say, safe.
Safe, which is
to say, indestructible.
Indestructible, which is
to say, I want to go home.
I want to live.
Life awaits me,
vibrant
clear
loud.
Reality awaits
on the other side.
I’m going to go home and
it’s going to suck
sometimes.
Suck, which is
to say, I’m going to be alive.
Alive!
vibrant
clear
loud
colorful
messy
beautiful
painful.
All of which is to say,
again,
I am going to live.

Bustling colors
Off the avenue,
Still movements
Beyond the glass.
Life continues
While time is paused.
Blurry images.
Busy people.
The colors of the city.
The stillness of
The white walls
Within.
The contrast
Is killing me,
While keeping me
Alive.
I smile.

Spinning words,
Bright futures,
Still figures displaced
With nowhere to go.
Sun shining,
Cracks flying.
Nonexistent pictures of
Things that never took place.
Bundled images,
Crumbled wishes.
Nonstop movement of static,
Of friction,
Of stillness,
Of things never seen before.

Explosion awaiting
Barriers slashed
Twisted pipes bursting
Emotions crashed
Loose metal flying
Crescendos reached
No ends just beginnings
Barriers breached
